These interactions were caused mostly by the economic motivations of Europeans , as these places often provided Europe with valuable goods. Throughout this period of interaction, European views of foreigners changed from those of respect and tolerance in the late 18th century to those of complete superiority and dominance in the early 20th century.
At the height of their power, the British Empire consisted of half the world. With Europe having just undergone the Industrial Revolution, it needed resources to fuel its economy. The fact that Europe had gone through an Industrial Revolution and nowhere else had gave them an advantage over the rest of the world. The successes of European imperialism were many.
Along with expansion, however, came abuses from the invading powers. These flaws in European dominance can easily be noted, especially when examining Africa and Asia; the consequences, in some cases, being death by the thousands. Therefore, due to these and other severe actions during their domination of the world, Europeans should be condemned for their abuses of power.
