One of the major sources of the spread of HIV in Thailand was the increase of the disease. HIV is a deliberate retrovirus, meaning that not merely does it take months to display any signs but then can also take years to mature fully Bell, et. The virus attacks the white cells by replicating itself. When turning on the television to the news station, reporters talk about an outbreak somewhere in the world, commonly in the impoverished countries of Africa. Photos and videos of sick beings with their children watching them from a distance fill the screen. Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify and critically review behavioural interventions in the HIV prevention and sexual health fields. Methods: Electronic and hand searches were conducted to retrieve relevant published and unpublished reports of outcome evaluations. A methodological review was carried out to identify those with sufficient methodological strengths to generate reliable conclusions as to effectiveness. Soundly designed studies were defined as those which met the four core criteria of employing control groups, providing pre- and post-intervention data and reporting on all targeted outcomes. Results: A total of 68 separate reports of outcome evaluations were located. Only 18 were judged to be methodologically adequate. Academic reviewers were more likely than the authors of papers to judge reports of evaluations as providing insufficient information to assess effectiveness.

This can prevent them from reaching a point where they are diagnosed with AIDS. Also, in some cases, it is possible for a person who has an AIDS diagnosis to regain a strong immune system with antiretroviral therapy. However, once somebody is diagnosed with AIDS, officially they keep this diagnosis for life even though in reality an opportunistic infection may be cured or the number of immune system cells CD4 cells in their blood may increase to recommended levels.
We examined the association of substance abuse treatment with sexual and drug use risk behaviours among HIV-infected persons with a history of alcohol problems using a standardized questionnaire regarding sexual and drug use risk behaviours, demographics, substance use, and use of substance abuse treatment. We defined substance abuse treatment services as any of the following in the past 6 months: 12 weeks in a half-way house or residential facility; 12 visits to a substance abuse counsellor or mental health professional; day treatment for at least 30 days; or participation in any methadone maintenance program. Our three outcome variables of high-risk behaviour were the Risk Assessment Battery sex-risk and drug-risk scores and high-risk sex behaviour which included any of the following: inconsistent condom use; having more than one sexual partner; and exchanging sex for money or drugs.
