April is National Poetry Month , which makes it the perfect time to introduce a simple poetry writing activity inspired by something kids love: rainbows! A good many children are captivated by the rhythm and rhyme of poetry, often heard first through nursery rhymes and storybooks. Nurturing this interest and curiosity — through reading poems and trying simple poetry writing exercises — can help your child develop a real love of language. Not only does it put their imaginations to work, but poetry provides a terrific creative outlet for ideas, thoughts, and feelings. This activity will easily get you started.

FFP Poetry Forums. Prev Poem. Next Poem. I live in a world of yellow and green, An abundance of colors rarely seen, With swirling seas of silver and gold, And crystal mountain tops never foretold, Sky of amber and clouds of peach, I picture myself on a pink satin beach. So open your eyes and let the colors shine through, As the colors were made for me and for you. Inner Peace By Joshua Fraser. Thunderstorms By Lizzy.

Start Here! Not gonna lie, just hearing the word "poetry" makes me want to run in the opposite direction of wherever the word was said. I'm not sure where the angst and dislike began, but as it would be homeschooling my children means I am revisiting those topics I didn't so much like myself growing up.
