There is too much emphasis on winning in sports today essay
Steroids in Sports In my opinion, the initial reason a person starts to play any sport is to either to have fun or mainly to emulate their favorite sports figures. When I was younger, I wanted to tackle like Lawrence Taylor. Since these children like to do what they see their role models do, what happens if they find out that their favorite person boosts his skills by using illegal substances? Since there are a lot of impressionable minds out there, some of those little fans may be swayed to do the same when they get the chance to. Although when playing for a University an athletes job is to bring in profit for the school, this is not why these young men and women have continued with these sports they love.
Traditionally, in American sports, winning is everything. Well, sort of. We win. We make our hockey league and until recently our soccer leagues do away with ties and play it out until someone wins. Take your participation trophy and shove it. But that mindset is changing. Karma, the guiding force of theologians and ultimate the flying disc sport players everywhere, would dictate Britten must get paid somehow.
