Governments worldwide have been under pressure to both cut fiscal expenditures and reduce unemployment, especially following the global financial crisis. Over a similar period, there has also been an increased focus on the need for governments to pursue inclusive growth, rather than merely focusing on macroeconomic indicators like GDP.
